Does Advertising Work?

Whenever I get to church early, I always take time to read the newsletter of our parish here in our area. One of the most favorite things that I want to observe is the sponsors’ section on the last page of the newsletter. I like reading how local businesses would post their services and/or products, not to mention getting ideas on different styles on how they advertise.

One advertisement that I noticed is a 1/2 of a 1/8th spot that I think is very effective… You might ask how did I come up with that conclusion? Read first the advertisement and see the last part of this entry to know why.

WHY IS IT
A man wakes up after sleeping
under an ADVERTISED blanket
on an ADVERTISED mattress
and pulls off ADVERTISED pajamas
bathes in an ADVERTISED shower
shaves with an ADVERTISED razor
burshes his teeth
with ADVERTISED toothpaste
washes with ADVERTISED soap
puts on ADVERTISED clothes
drinks a cup
of ADVERTISED coffee
drives to work
in an ADVERTISED car
and then…
refuses to ADVERTISED
believing it doesn’t pay.
Later if business is poor
he ADVERTISES it for sale.
WHY IS IT?

Cool is it not?! Why I think it is effective? I see a lot of advertisers to the point that they have to spread it to the last few pages of the newsletter.

Page Rank 1 and Updates

It has been awhile since I last make an update to this blog. I know this is a personal blog and there are few other sites that I manage but for some reasons, this blog got a page rank of 1 from the last update. There has been no activity within the blog, link requests, blog posts and even link build never occurred to this blog.

It is quite obvious that sometimes this happens randomly and good thing, this blog got some juice from other sites. Anyhow, this is just an update and hoping I would have time to blog some of my personal experiences.

POF not accepting Advertisers from the Philippines

…and No, I did not visit POF because I am lonely and want to meet singles online. What I have in mind is to get into their self serve advertising platform, push offers and rake additional moolah. I was entering my details on the form when I realized that Philippines is not included on their list. I have sent an email regarding the matter and hopefully will be resolved soon.

Facebook: From Become a Fan to Became

There has been a buzz that advertising agencies have received a notice that Facebook will change their button “Became A Fan” to “Like”. At first, I was puzzled on why FB would switch such CTA or call to action - but then I realized that they [FB] will benefit from it in the sense of branding. Instead of having a vague “BECAME A FAN” - The button will have a better branding with “Like” US on Facebook or “Connect with US on Facebook.”

A Roller Coaster Ride and My Boring Life Updates

Whew! It has been what? two months since my last update? - If you are an online marketer, you would have guessed that something is cooking whenever a PERSONAL blog has not been updated. The past few months was one helluva roller coaster ride for me. I have been doing some experiments here and there, creating campaigns left and right and just trying to boost my income. Based on my goals, I have yet to achieve my ultimate goal - But then again, for every goal, there will be obstacles… LOTS OF ‘EM.

Experiments - I have been doing some experiments with pay per click advertising. I have launched a few campaigns that made it to the green, some stayed on the line and some just ain’t there yet. Nothing much to report, that is why, I slacked in writing/updating this blog.

Undo Theme - If you have noticed, this was my last theme before using the AzSands theme. I have decided that I will stick to this theme for the reason that IT is plain dang SIMPLE. I love simplicity that is why I revert it back to my original-favorite theme

Personal Website - Since my domain name is MY surname. This will serve as my personal website but still with touch of SEO, Affiliate Marketing and Domain names. Not much to talk about S.A.D. but then again, I might hit AGAIN a gold mine and I won’t hesitate to put results on my experiments here.

More Experiments - I have a goal of $4000 this month of December, and I have been working my arse off this season. I will be conducting another set of experiments and hopefully provide a report here on my blog.

I Have Been Challenged

Costa Rica Baby! Neverblue , one of the best CPA network is having a great incentive for the top performers this October to December. The prize will be an all expense paid trip to Costa Rica. This has led a friend of mine inside the network to challenge me and achieve at least $1000 for one week. Starting September 30, 2009 at exactly 3:30pm GMT +8 - the challenge has begun.

On Frustrations and Expectations

Believe me if I say that It is normal to have frustrations in life, especially, if you are running a business. These are normal instances wherein emotions would kick you in the ass and really, and i mean reaaaaallly make you uneasy. Frustrations may lead to depression and that my friend ,you would not want to experience.

Expectations on another note will also be a part of your life. You would expect some things and most of the time, it is always an expectation that would be in favor for you. This is also not healthy, based on my experience. For every expectations that is turned down, there is a consequence of being frustrated. Now, are you getting my drift?

It seems that expecting something would be really anticipating with the results based on actions, but expecting BIG can really turn a positive thinking and attitude to a sinking boat overnight. The moral lesson here is always be prepared for the unexpected. As easy as it may sound, this is very difficult to handle. In life there are always two sides - Failure and success, and you should really try anticipating both and really also EXPECTING that the opposite MIGHT actually happen.

To summarize my rant here:

moderate Expectations (OK)

Big Expectations > can lead to frustrations > can lead to depression

It is not bad to aim high, but to expect a positive outcome always is not really healthy for business.. and in life.

You got your great domain name, had a tight niche in mind and installed the Wordpress content management system platform to your web server. You also have chosen your free wordpress theme that comes with advertising links located in the footer. You then decided to delete it or atleast put a a ‘ rel=”nofollow” ‘ to it so that your link juice will not pass to that particular site that does not even related to your blog.

The ONLY problem is that the Script is Encoded in the Footer.php - What now? Here is a simple step by step on how to Decode Encrypted Wordpress Footer Script Fast.

1. Go to your Footer.php (Appearance > Editor > Footer.php)
